| The organization will continue a slow and gradual journey
towards its’ destination with out compromising on basic principles
of its’ strategy and approach. There will be less dependence on external
donors support and more emphasis will be given to its’ Advocacy interventions
to empower local communities. Expansion to other areas will be a gradual phenomenon by replication of tested models of participatory development. Networking with other CSOs is the major line of direction in the future. The already established forum. The IDEALS will be further strengthened. CARAVAN will play a leading role in this direction. It is already decided that CARAVAN local offices will be considered as branch offices for the consortium as well. IDEALS, as mentioned earlier is the consortium of 20 registered CSOs from Malaknd and Hazara division. It was established in the year 2003 by the activists from founding CSOs working in the region in different sectors on small scale. The main objective of its’ creation has been to make efforts to bring different NGOs/CSOs on one platform to pool their resources, expertise and experiences for a visible change. It is a registered body with an independent board comprising of 7 persons from some of the member of the consortium. Having its’ head office in Abbottabad, the consortium has established regional offices in Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, Batgram and Swat district at the moment. According to its’ bye laws, each member organization will have its’ own identity and can work independently.Any activity being implemented by the umbrella organization i.e. consortium will be jointly executed but with major role for the organization having presence in that particular locality. For example, the consortium is entered into partnership with DTCE for monitoring its’ CCBs mobilization projects in Mansehra and Abbottabad districts. The local partner CSOs in those districts are playing the leading role. In this project the financial control lies with the consortium management/head office while a supreme council comprising 4 board members is mandated for overall monitoring of the project in both the districts. The agreement with DTC was initially for a period of three months. Due to better performance of the NGO, it is now extended for further five year period. In this project, the IDEALS has engaged more than 100 persons, mostly graduates, as part time employees in both the districts. The consortium members are running different projects independently in different districts. The partners in Shangla district are managing more than 60 community schools while the consortium component in Abbottabad runs projects on income generation and health etc. The major breakthrough in this direction is in the case of Indus Kohistan wher more than 15 local registered CBOs have become member of the consortium through their ape district level body. |
